Asus Eee Pad Transformer - just another tablet or something more ?

Powered by NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor and Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) it is surely one of the fastest tablets on the market. It's 10.1 inch IPS capacitative touchscreen and stereo surround sound makes it a multimedia bombshell. With the rest of the features 512MB RAM,16gb flash drive and Wifi being synonymous to tablets like the like Apple Ipad 2, it surely has more to offer with features like SD card slot, HDMI output and a mini usb port. Being the cheapest ($400 for Wifi only version) of its main competitors Apple Ipad 2 ($500) and Motorola Xoom ($600) it surely is a bargain.

But when you thought that was all this TRANSFORMER can do...It has a lot more to offer. The optional docking station takes it's capabilities to new heights. The station not only provides a hardware keyboard and an optical trackpad but also increases the battery life by 6.5 hours taking it to a total of 16 hours on a single charge (more than any other tablet in this price range). Also the docking station has two usb ports which increases its integration capabilities. In short it transforms this tablet in to a well equipped net book.

If that's not all have a look at this video..... I'm sure you'll be dying to get your hands on one of these!!

  2. Well as compared to Ipad 2 the tablet only has the following more to offer:
    - Storage expandability (micro SD slot)
    - HDTV output (Built-in HDMI port)
    - Better Camera (5MP 720p HD and 1.3MP as compared to 720p HD and VGA)
    - Customizable OS

However the Ipad 2 has some features which can't be ignored:
    - Its lighter
    - 10 hour battery life (Asus tablet only: 9hrs)
    - Greater number of applications

Therefore can't really say it's better than Ipad 2 but it surely is cheaper!!

As for the resale/availability nothing can be said at the moment as Asus is facing supply chain issues resulting in cancellation/delays of orders....... so right now one can only get this from an open market..... the prices at ebay range from $550 to $650..... Asus says that this issue will be resolved by the end of this month. *fingers crossed*
